EMotorad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish a new electric cycle manufacturing facility in Kuppam, marking an expansion of its domestic production footprint. The company has been allotted a seven-acre site for the proposed plant under the state's Green City Initiative.

The facility is being developed in collaboration with the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA) as part of a broader urban development programme involving KADA and IIT Kanpur. Alongside increasing manufacturing capacity, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities in the region.

The company said the new facility will support production of its electric cycles for customers in Andhra Pradesh and across India. The investment also aligns with the state's focus on cleaner mobility and domestic manufacturing through the Green City Initiative.

The Kuppam project comes as EMotorad continues to expand its manufacturing operations amid growing demand for electric mobility solutions. Founded in 2020, the Pune-based company currently operates through more than 800 dealerships, has a presence in over 18 countries, and offers electric cycles across commuter, leisure, children's and micromobility segments. The company has also raised cumulative funding of $25 million to date.

According to the company, EMotorad joins other organisations participating in the Green City Initiative, including Mother Dairy, Adidas and Hindalco, as Kuppam seeks to attract investments in sustainable manufacturing and infrastructure."Setting up this facility is an indication of our intentions for a city that has given us so much. Beyond manufacturing, this is about building something lasting for the people of Kuppam, real jobs, real infrastructure, and a stake in India's clean mobility future," said Kunal Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO, EMotorad.
