India's electric two-wheeler registrations jumped 80% to 195,446 units in July on a year-on-year basis. The strong growth rate comes on a low base in the comparable period, when the industry was grappling with a shortage of rare earth magnets.

The market remained stable on a sequential basis, as registrations remained largely unchanged from June's 194,940 units. Electric vehicle penetration in the two-wheeler segment rose to 11.1% in July from 10.6% in June.

TVS Motor continued its leadership with registrations of 53,031 units, more than doubling from 23,581 units a year earlier. Its market share expanded to 27.1% from 21.7% in July 2025 and 24.3% in June.

Bajaj Auto retained the second spot with 43,817 registrations, up 113% year-on-year. Its market share also rose to 22.4% from 18.9% a year earlier.

Ather Energy registered 29,301 two-wheelers, an increase of 64% year-on-year, while its volumes declined 7% from June. Its market share fell to 15.0% from 16.4% in July last year and 16.1% in June.

Hero MotoCorp continued to strengthen its presence in the market, with registrations nearly doubling to 21,506 units from 10,835 units a year ago. Its market share also increased to 11.0% from 10.0%.

Ola Electric was the only major electric two-wheeler maker to report a decline in registrations. Volumes fell 27% year-on-year and 17% month-on-month to 13,520 units, while its market share dropped sharply to 6.9% from 17.0% a year earlier and 8.3% in June.

Among smaller manufacturers, Greaves Electric registered 9,768 units, while River Mobility and BGauss Auto recorded 5,791 and 5,353 units, respectively.

The top five OEMs together accounted for more than 82% of total electric two-wheeler registrations during July, with TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto further consolidating their positions as market leaders.

During the first four months of financial year 2027, electric two-wheeler registrations increased 71% year-on-year to 720,730 units.
