EKA Mobility secures order for 250 electric buses from Nagpur Municipal Corporation
EKA Mobility will supply 250 electric buses to Nagpur, supporting the city's move towards sustainable public transportation.
EKA Mobility, a division of Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., has secured an order from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to supply 250 electric buses. This aligns with NMC’s goal to improve public transportation by introducing more environmentally friendly and reliable services. The new electric bus fleet will operate on key routes across the city, aiming to improve public transport services while reducing operational costs and emissions.
The contract for the deployment was awarded to Hansa Vahan India Private Limited, previously known as M/s Hansa Travels, which has partnered with EKA Mobility. EKA will manufacture and deliver 12-meter air-conditioned electric buses to Hansa Travels. Additionally, the company will provide maintenance services for the buses throughout the contract duration. Each bus will accommodate 41 seated passengers, with space for 24 standing passengers.
Commenting on the development, Rohit Srivastava, Chief Growth Officer at EKA Mobility, noted that the partnership with NMC supports India’s transition to cleaner energy sources in public transportation. He also mentioned that the order reinforces EKA’s presence in the electric vehicle sector, with a focus on offering sustainable mobility solutions to cities across India.
EKA, backed by equity partners Mitsui Co., Ltd. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands), has previously deployed its electric buses in Delhi for UBER shuttle services at the airport, in Pune at the international airport, and as part of #UBERReads. The company also partners with IKEA to supply electric delivery vans in India.
