EKA Mobility, along with the Government of Rajasthan, has commenced the field deployment of a major public transport fleet, with CM Bhajan Lal Sharma flagging off the initial batch of electric buses in Jaipur. The vehicle induction represents the first operational phase of a comprehensive procurement order totaling 876 electric buses allocated for the state.
The procurement contract was awarded under the Central Government’s PM e-Bus Sewa initiative, a national scheme designed to scale up electric bus deployment across cities lacking structured public transit infrastructure. EKA Mobility secured the order in a joint consortium with Chartered Speed, which will take over the formal operations, management, and deployment logistics for the 876 vehicles across eight cities in Rajasthan.
The newly inducted buses are constructed on a modular electric commercial vehicle platform featuring connected fleet management tracking and zero tailpipe emissions. To meet accessible transit mandates, the vehicle design includes a specialized integrated wheelchair lift door mechanism configured specifically for Divyang passengers to assist with boarding.
Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, noted that the state-level rollout aligns with the brand's ongoing commercial fleet expansion across multiple regional corridors, including recent operations established in Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh.
