Energy In Motion Limited (EIM), has signed a memorandum of understanding with Oil Field Warehouse & Services Limited (OWS) and Radiance Green Mobility Private Limited to deploy 500 electric heavy commercial vehicles (e-HCVs) on select high-density freight routes across India.
The three corridors identified under the agreement are Mumbai–Pune, Mundra–Morbi–Ahmedabad, and Mumbai–Delhi — routes that carry significant volumes of commercial cargo and have been identified by the companies as having strong potential for electrification. The initial phase will see 50 vehicles operating on the Mumbai–Pune corridor from October 2026, with further deployment contingent on the completion of EIM's battery swapping network along the remaining routes.
How EIM, OWS and Radiance Will Split Responsibilities
Under the arrangement, EIM will supply the vehicle and energy infrastructure, including battery swapping stations, charging points, and energy management systems. OWS and Radiance Green Mobility will be responsible for fleet deployment and day-to-day operations. This division of responsibility reflects a broader industry model in which vehicle and infrastructure providers partner with established logistics operators who already have route expertise and cargo relationships in place.
Ashwa: EIM's 55-Ton Electric Tractor for Long-Haul Freight
EIM's primary vehicle offering under this partnership is the Ashwa, a 55-ton electric tractor designed for high-utilisation, long-haul freight operations. The vehicle is supported by a battery-swapping system intended to reduce downtime compared to conventional charging. EIM recently received homologation for a 350-kWh battery variant of the Ashwa, expanding its technical options for operators with higher energy demands.
OWS and Radiance Green Mobility's Logistics Background
OWS brings substantial logistics experience to the partnership. The company pioneered SEZ-based warehousing in India in 2006 and has since built capabilities across container logistics, freight forwarding, project cargo handling, rig moves, shore-base management, and port and terminal operations. It serves clients in India's energy, port, and industrial sectors, and operates across multiple logistics and industrial hubs nationally.
Radiance Green Mobility, a company focused on electric mobility in the heavy and industrial transport segment, is a venture connected to Jyothi Transport & Freight Services. It has prior experience deploying electric heavy commercial vehicles within port ecosystems and is now extending that work to mainline freight corridors under this agreement.
Why Electrification Offers Cost Predictability for Fleet Operators
One of the factors driving the move toward electrification, according to OWS, is cost predictability. Diesel fuel prices are subject to fluctuation based on global crude oil markets, making long-term freight contracts harder to price reliably. Electrification, the company indicated, offers a more stable cost base, which in turn supports longer-term contractual arrangements with customers. This commercial logic, alongside environmental considerations, appears to be a primary motivation for OWS's participation in the deal.

he agreement fits within a wider policy context. The Indian government has been actively promoting electric mobility across vehicle categories as part of its national e-mobility agenda. Heavy commercial vehicles, which account for a disproportionate share of fuel consumption and emissions in the road transport sector, have become a focus area for both policy and private investment. Freight corridors connecting major industrial and port hubs — such as those covered by this MoU — are seen as priority zones for early electrification given the regularity and volume of trips involved.
