Eaton to invest in T.N., establish R&D centre

Eaton, a global power management company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to expand its Crouse-Hinds and B-Line operations in India.

The agreement underscores Eaton’s commitment to advancing its operations in the region through sustainable solutions and innovation.

The MoU was signed in a ceremony attended by Eaton representatives, including Matt Hockman, Global President of Crouse-Hinds, B-Line, Oil and Gas; Simon Mathieson, VP/GM EMEAI for Crouse-Hinds, B-Line, Oil and Gas; Marine Drive, Country Head for Eaton in India; Philipose Jacob, Country Director for Crouse-Hinds, B-Line, Oil and Gas India; and Herman Bennis, HR Director for the division in India. The Tamil Nadu delegation included Honorable Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Minister for Industries Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, Secretary for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Arun Roy IAS, and MD & CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu Vishnu Venugopalan IAS.

Philipose Jacob, Country Director for Eaton in India, highlighted the company’s ongoing investment in India’s talent and technology infrastructure. “Eaton has been committed to developing sustainable and innovative power management solutions in India, addressing significant energy challenges for demanding environments,” Jacob said.

Jacob also provided details on the new facility in Sholinganallur, Chennai, which will span 100,000 square feet and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The facility will feature advanced manufacturing floors, R&D facilities, an experience center, and headquarters, aimed at enhancing Eaton’s ability to deliver innovative solutions.

Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, Minister for Industries in Tamil Nadu, expressed support for the expansion. “The Government of Tamil Nadu is pleased to partner with Eaton, aligning with our vision of turning the state into a hub for innovation and industrial growth. Eaton’s expansion will contribute to job creation and the development of a skilled workforce, supporting further technological and industrial advancement in Tamil Nadu," he said. 

The expanded facility will focus on Eaton’s capabilities in digitalization, electrification, and energy transition, reflecting the company’s global goals of sustainability and innovation.
