DrivebuddyAI, a provider of AI-powered Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS), has been granted an Indian patent for a real-time lane region-of-interest (ROI) detection technology designed to improve the accuracy and consistency of safety-critical vehicle functions.
The patented system addresses a persistent challenge in conventional ADAS deployments: variations in camera installation angles, vehicle configurations, road geometry, and environmental conditions frequently degrade lane detection accuracy, triggering false alerts or missed warnings. DrivebuddyAI's solution introduces a self-calibrating framework that automatically optimises lane calculations during new installations, software updates, and system reboots — without requiring manual intervention.
The technology incorporates AI-driven frame validation, vehicle-specific lane adaptation, and a dual-camera architecture that integrates road-facing ADAS with driver monitoring. It supports real-time safety alerts for lane departure warnings, collision avoidance, and steering assistance, with compatibility claimed for Level 2 and Level 3 autonomous driving applications, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and advanced path planning.
Unlike static calibration approaches, the system continuously validates and refines lane ROI using live driving data, enabling consistent performance across deteriorating lane markings, adverse weather, low-light conditions, and mixed-traffic environments.
The company said the technology had been trained and validated on over 6.4 billion kilometres of real-world driving data spanning highways, urban roads, rural routes, and complex traffic scenarios. Cloud connectivity and over-the-air update capability are cited as enablers for ongoing optimisation across commercial fleets and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) deployments.
The patent adds to drivebuddyAI's portfolio, which the company says now exceeds 15 grants spanning ADAS, DMS, AI perception, driver risk assessment, driver recognition, and intelligent mobility technologies. DrivebuddyAI is headquartered in Ahmedabad and operates as a group company of Roadzen Inc., listed on Nasdaq under the ticker RDZN.
