Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has become the first manufacturing facility in India to receive the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum certification under the updated and rigorous Version 2 standards. The certification was awarded to DICV’s Oragadam plant, which is among 31 factories evaluated and the only one to achieve this recognition for sustainable industrial practices.
The IGBC Platinum certification is regarded as a global benchmark in sustainable building practices. It aligns with the World Green Building Council’s framework to advance sustainability across industrial operations. DICV’s Oragadam facility has adopted measures aimed at energy efficiency, water conservation, renewable energy utilization, waste management, and biodiversity enhancement, setting a new standard for sustainable manufacturing in India.
The plant’s approach to sustainability is guided by DICV’s SPUR principle—Source, Produce, Use, Regenerate—focused on minimizing resource consumption while optimizing operational performance. These practices have contributed to reduced environmental impact, cost efficiencies, and an improved workplace environment.
Speaking on this achievement, Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of DICV, stated that the IGBC Platinum certification reflects the company’s efforts to incorporate sustainable practices in its operations. He emphasised that the recognition not only validates their approach but also demonstrates how industrial facilities can effectively integrate sustainability into their processes while contributing to global environmental goals.
This recognition underscores DICV’s alignment with Daimler Truck AG’s global sustainability roadmap. It serves as a reference for the automotive and commercial vehicle industries, encouraging broader adoption of sustainable manufacturing practices both in India and internationally.
