Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) and AVL have announced a strategic partnership that will see AVL distribute DEP's MeshWorks CAE platform to mobility companies across the United States and Europe.

The collaboration, announced on February 6, 2026, combines MeshWorks with AVL EXCITE™ to create an integrated toolchain designed to optimize propulsion design cycles. The solution enables CAE engineers to create finite element models from CAD data, parameterize them, and perform shape and topology optimization for dynamic and acoustic simulations.

According to the companies, the toolchain accelerates design cycles by enabling rapid CAE iterations without requiring CAD involvement. The technologies can be applied across various sectors, including light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles, marine, and aerospace applications.

Radha Krishnan, President and Founder of DEP, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, citing AVL's expertise and global reach as key factors in delivering MeshWorks' advanced parametric optimization capabilities to CAE professionals in the target markets.

Mick Winship, Executive Director for Advanced Simulation Technologies at AVL, highlighted how the partnership allows engineers to integrate MeshWorks with existing AVL tools, providing simulation products and processes to optimize performance, weight, and development costs.

DEP, founded in 1998 in Troy, Michigan, operates globally with a presence in Europe, China, Korea, Japan, and India. The company's MeshWorks platform, launched in 2001, has evolved into a comprehensive environment for pre- and post-processing, featuring AI/ML-driven automation, advanced morphing tools, and simulation capabilities.

AVL, employing over 12,200 people across 90 locations worldwide, specializes in mobility technology development, simulation, and testing. The company reported a turnover of 2.03 billion euros in 2024, investing 11% in research and development activities.
