Cummins India Launches 8th Edition of B-school Case Study Competition

Cummins India Limited has launched 'REDEFINE 2025', the eighth edition of its annual business school case study competition, inviting students from 19 premier institutions across India to develop solutions addressing energy transition challenges. The competition, scheduled to conclude with a grand finale in Pune on November 13-14, 2025, focuses on the theme "From Backup to Backbone: Driving the Energy Shift."

The initiative comes as India's energy sector undergoes significant transformation, with increasing emphasis on renewable energy integration and decarbonization. The competition challenges participants to explore service-led models including Energy-as-a-Service, renewable integration, and grid-connected solutions.

Students enrolled in first and second-year flagship PGP/PGDM/PGDBM/MBA programs are eligible to participate. The winning team will receive a cash prize and entry into Cummins India's mentorship program.

"As a leading player in the power sector, Cummins is committed to investing in the future - and that begins with nurturing the next generation that will drive meaningful change and become the leaders of tomorrow," said Anupama Kaul, Human Resources Leader, Cummins India. "REDEFINE 2025 serves as a transformative platform to empower students to think critically and innovate solutions to tackle real-world challenges."

Subramanian Chidambaran, Chief Strategy Officer, Cummins India, added, "At Cummins, we know innovation thrives on collaboration and the courage to challenge the status quo. Through REDEFINE, we aim to create a collaborative ecosystem where students can explore breakthrough solutions to today's pressing challenges."

The 2024 edition attracted 3,780 students across 1,260 teams from 18 institutions. The team from Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development, Pune, won the competition, with Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, as runner-up.

Participating institutions include eight IIMs (Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Ranchi, Shillong, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur), IIT Delhi, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Delhi, Indian School of Business Hyderabad, and several other premier management institutions.

Established in 1962 and headquartered in Pune, Cummins India Limited operates five manufacturing plants and maintains over 480 customer touchpoints. The company employs over 3,000 people and serves the power generation, aftermarket, and export sectors.
