Continental launches new set of premium vehicle and truck radial tyres in India
At Continental Track Day 2025 in Chennai, the company launched PremiumContact 6 for passenger vehicles, ContiSeal self-sealing technology, and expanded its commercial vehicle portfolio with new Gen3 Truck Radial tyre sizes.
Continental Tires, a global leader in tyre manufacturing, unveiled its latest innovations during the Continental Track Day event at the Wabco Proving Ground in Chennai.
The event marked the launch of the PremiumContact 6 (PC6) tyres, featuring advanced technologies for improved performance, along with the introduction of ContiSeal technology for enhanced tyre safety. The company also showcased its Gen3 Truck Radial tyres, expanding its offerings for commercial vehicles in India.
The PremiumContact 6 tyres are tailored to meet the demanding and diverse road conditions in India. They feature Macroblock Technology, which enhances cornering stability and provides better control over the vehicle.
The tyres also include a silica compound that delivers reliable grip on both wet and dry surfaces, making them suitable for use in extreme weather conditions, such as monsoon rains and intense summer heat.
Additionally, the tyres’ new asymmetric rib geometry increases pattern stiffness and reduces block deformation, improving grip during lateral movements. Available in rim sizes from 17 to 20 inches, the PremiumContact 6 is now accessible at Continental Tires outlets across the country.
Continental has introduced its ContiSeal technology, which aims to improve tyre safety by addressing punctures without requiring immediate roadside assistance. This innovative technology can seal up to 85% of tread punctures caused by objects up to 5 mm in diameter. The technology incorporates a specially engineered viscous sealant layer inside the tyre that automatically encapsulates the puncture, preventing air loss and maintaining pressure even if the object causing the puncture dislodges.
By integrating this self-sealing mechanism directly into the tyre, ContiSeal eliminates the need for spare tyres, offering enhanced convenience and peace of mind for drivers navigating city streets or highways. The technology’s ability to support uninterrupted journeys makes it particularly relevant for India’s unpredictable road conditions.
In addition to its passenger vehicle offerings, Continental Tires highlighted its Gen3 Truck Radial tyres, which are designed for medium and heavy commercial vehicles. These tyres cater to a variety of applications, including highway, regional, and on/off-road use.
The company introduced two new tyre sizes as part of its expanded portfolio. The 295/90 R20 size, available in five advanced tread patterns, is optimized for hybrid and regional applications, offering a higher load index and improved efficiency for transporters. The 235/75 R17.5 size is specifically designed for light commercial vehicle buses and trucks, focusing on durability and mileage to meet the demands of long-term performance.
Continental Tires’ latest launches emphasize its commitment to innovation and its focus on meeting the evolving mobility requirements of Indian customers. By integrating advanced technologies and practical designs, the company continues to enhance its offerings for both passenger and commercial vehicle segments in India.
