Continental Launches CrossContact A/T² All-Terrain Tyre in India
German tyre maker debuts aggressive off-road tyre designed for SUVs and 4x4 vehicles at Track Day event.
Continental Tires has launched its CrossContact A/T² all-terrain tyre in India, making the country one of the first global markets to receive the next-generation product. The launch took place during the Continental Tires Track Day event at Dot Goa 4X4.
The CrossContact A/T² is designed specifically for SUVs and 4x4 vehicles, targeting India's growing adventure and off-road driving segment. According to Samir Gupta, Managing Director of Continental Tires India, the country's 4x4 vehicle segment is experiencing significant growth, driven by increasing interest in adventure activities and long-distance travel.
"India is the first market globally to introduce the CrossContact A/T². This decision is a testament to Continental's commitment to the Indian market," Gupta said during the launch event.
The tyre incorporates several proprietary technologies aimed at improving performance across varied terrain conditions. These include BlackPaw Compound technology for adaptive traction across different temperatures and surface conditions, self-cleaning shoulders with open tread patterns to remove debris, rigid tread block geometry to reduce hydroplaning and improve braking, and reinforced sidewalls for enhanced durability.
The product is engineered to perform on multiple surfaces including mud, gravel, sand, wet highways, and rocky trails, addressing the diverse topography found across India.
Continental has made the CrossContact A/T² available through its authorized dealership network and over 200 brand stores nationwide. The tyre is offered in multiple sizes ranging from 215/70 R15 to 285/60 R18 to accommodate various SUV and 4x4 models.
The launch aligns with Continental's "In the Market, For the Market" approach, which focuses on developing products tailored to specific regional requirements and road conditions.
Continental, founded in 1871, generated sales of €39.7 billion in 2024 and employs approximately 95,000 people across 54 countries. The company's Tires group sector recorded sales of €13.9 billion in fiscal 2024 and operates 20 production facilities and 16 development sites worldwide.
