Pune-based motorcycle manufacturer adds to its intellectual property portfolio with rider-centric innovation for adventure motorcycles.

Classic Legends has been granted a patent for an adjustable visor and speedometer system, marking another addition to the company's growing portfolio of intellectual property in the Indian motorcycle industry.
The patent, which covers technology first introduced on the 2025 Yezdi Adventure, has been awarded for a 20-year term from March 21, 2023, under the Patents Act, 1970. The system allows riders to adjust both the visor and speedometer according to their height and riding preferences, including during off-road riding conditions.
The Pune-based manufacturer, which owns the Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA motorcycle brands, has positioned the innovation as part of its rider-focused engineering approach. According to Susheel Sinha, Head of R&D at Classic Legends, the patent reflects the company's philosophy of prioritizing functional engineering over feature accumulation.
This is the company's second patent win. Classic Legends previously secured intellectual property rights for its Airfilter Multifrequency Resonator, which is used in its 650cc BSA Gold Star and BSA Scrambler motorcycles sold in the UK market. The resonator technology reduces air-filter noise across the entire engine rpm range, unlike conventional single-frequency systems.
Classic Legends has introduced several technical features to India's mid-capacity motorcycle segment, including its liquid-cooled 334cc Alpha 2 engine, six-speed gearboxes, assist and slipper clutches, traction control systems, and advanced braking technologies.
The company's product range includes the Yezdi and Jawa brands in India, and the BSA brand for international markets, particularly the UK. BSA Motorcycles, acquired by Classic Legends in 2016 as part of the Mahindra Group, received a £4.6 million grant from the UK Government in 2021 for zero-emission motorcycle development.
Classic Legends currently has two patents granted and two patent applications filed, alongside various industry-first implementations in its motorcycle platforms.
