Cityflo has introduced a full-stack AI-powered driver safety system across its fleet in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi. The system combines Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring (DMS) technologies to improve road safety, ensure fleet discipline, and enhance operational transparency.
ADAS provides on-road alerts to assist drivers, while DMS supervises driving behavior within the cabin. Together, these systems aim to reduce risk, improve accountability, and standardize driver performance.
“As the industry grows, while we add more buses—we need stronger systems to run them better,” said Rushabh Shah, CBO, Cityflo. “Our belief is that operational excellence begins with full transparency on what is happening inside and outside the cabin. This rollout is about institutionalising safety and performance—not just reacting to lapses, but preventing them altogether.”
Developed in partnership with safety intelligence startup Cautio, the system has been integrated into most Cityflo buses and LUXE cabs, with full deployment expected within a month.
The implementation comes at a crucial time, as India accounts for 11% of global road fatalities despite having just 1% of the world’s vehicles, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Over 90% of crashes are linked to human error, often resulting from driver fatigue, distraction, or misjudgment. Cityflo’s AI-driven approach targets these concerns to enhance safety outcomes.
Cityflo’s initiative is part of a broader effort to establish formal operating standards in a largely unstructured sector. With a fleet of 400+ buses and 600 trained drivers, the company covers over 10 million kilometers and serves 6.6 million rides annually. By focusing on systemic improvements beyond software and bus supply, Cityflo aims to strengthen service reliability and fleet performance.
