Citroën Launches Basalt X Range at Rs 7.95 Lakh; Fully Loaded MAX AT Priced at Rs 12.89 Lakh

Citroën India launched the Basalt X Range on September 5, 2025, featuring CARA, India's first intelligent in-car assistant, as part of the company's 'Citroën 2.0 – Shift Into the New' strategy. The fully loaded variant is priced at INR 12.89 lakh, while the Basalt range starts at INR 7.95 lakh.

CARA represents India's first multilingual, contextually aware in-car companion engineered domestically for both Indian customers and global markets. The AI system responds to natural commands, integrates with vehicle functions including tire pressure monitoring and fuel management, and supports 52 Indian and international languages with mid-conversation switching capabilities.

The system provides real-time information including flight status, stock updates, cricket scores and weather alerts through conversational interface. Safety features include voice-triggered SOS mode, crash response and emergency assistance functionality.

The Basalt X Range includes premium interior upgrades with soft-touch leatherette, ambient lighting, and a 26 cm infotainment system. Technical enhancements feature Proxi-Sense PEPS, cruise control with speed limiter, HALO 360° camera system with seven viewing modes, auto-dimming electrochromic IRVM and TROPICOOL ventilated seats.

Safety specifications include perimetric alarm, 85% high-grade steel structure, ESP, hill hold control, TPMS, ISOFIX and six airbags as standard equipment.

The Basalt combines SUV stance with coupé design elements, featuring diamond-cut R16 alloys, full front LED setup and 180mm ground clearance. Interior space includes segment-first Smart Tilt Cushion with adjustable thigh support and Advanced Comfort suspension.

Engine options include 1.2L Gen 3 Turbo (110 ps, 205 Nm) and PureTech 82 NA variants with 5MT, 6MT and 6AT transmission choices.

Test drives will be available at Citroën dealerships by mid-September, with customer deliveries commencing during the festive season. CARA is offered complimentary on MAX Automatic variants for initial bookings.
