CHARGEZONE has secured long-term energy contracts worth more than $1 billion (around Rs 10,500 crore) for EV charging across intercity electric buses, trucks and commercial car fleets. The contracted demand will support the company’s planned deployment of 1,000 new supercharging stations across key national highway corridors.
The company expects the new charging stations to support more than 15,000 EVs daily. According to CHARGEZONE, the predictable routes and recurring energy requirements of commercial fleets provide greater visibility on where charging capacity will be required before infrastructure is deployed.
The company said the long-term contracts are intended to allow it to build charging capacity against contracted energy demand rather than relying primarily on projected EV traffic. This is expected to provide greater visibility on future station utilisation and energy revenues as the network expands.
CHARGEZONE To Add 180MW Of EV Charging Capacity
The expansion will add 180MW of charging capacity, taking CHARGEZONE’s cumulative network capacity from the current 120MW to 300MW. At full deployment, the company expects the network to deliver around 700GWh of energy annually and support more than 15,000 charging sessions per day.
Average network utilisation is projected to increase to around 30%, compared with the current 14%, according to the company.
CHARGEZONE said its expansion strategy differs from network deployment based primarily on expected EV traffic. Its next phase is being anchored by long-term fleet demand, with buses and trucks operating on predictable routes and consuming more energy per vehicle. This provides greater visibility into expected station throughput before capital is committed.
CHARGEZONE Raises $25 Million For Charging Network Expansion
To fund the expansion, CHARGEZONE has secured $25 million (Rs 250 crore) in debt financing from Indian banks. The company also plans to raise a further $100 million during 2026-27.
The funds will be used for new supercharging stations, micro-grid infrastructure, energy-management technology and wider network expansion. The company said the long-term fleet contracts provide greater visibility into future energy demand and utilisation for these assets.
CHARGEZONE is also integrating renewable energy sources, including solar generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS), into its high-speed charging infrastructure. These systems are intended to increase renewable energy use, manage peak power requirements and improve site-level energy resilience.
The company currently has more than 15,000 charging points across over 1,200 locations in India and the UAE, according to the release.
