Capgemini Announces Leadership Transition in India as Ashwin Yardi Steps Down After Seven Years

Capgemini has announced a significant leadership change in its India operations, with CEO Ashwin Yardi set to retire from his executive role after seven years at the helm. Effective January 1, 2026, Yardi will become non-executive Chairman of the board of Capgemini in India, while Sanjay Chalke, currently serving as India Chief Operating Officer, will take over as CEO and join the Group Executive Committee.

The transition marks the end of a transformative period for Capgemini's Indian operations under Yardi's leadership. During his tenure as CEO, the company experienced substantial expansion, with its workforce growing from 105,500 to nearly 180,000 team members across 13 locations in the country.

In his new role as non-executive Chairman, Yardi will focus on maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and supporting Chalke during the transition period. Meanwhile, Chalke will work to strengthen Capgemini India's position as a strategic hub for client delivery excellence, talent development, and innovation.

Aiman Ezzat, Chief Executive Officer of Capgemini Group, praised Yardi's contributions throughout his 30-year career with the company. "Ashwin has been instrumental in establishing Capgemini's industry leadership and talent in India," Ezzat said. He expressed confidence in Chalke's ability to accelerate growth and deepen the company's impact while continuing to position India as a center for innovation and technology.

Chalke brings extensive operational experience to the CEO role. As COO, he has led multiple transformation programs focused on operational excellence, talent acquisition, and delivery assurance. He previously served as Executive Vice President and Head of Sogeti India at Capgemini, where he drove strategic initiatives to enhance business performance and talent transformation.

Prior to joining Capgemini, Chalke headed the Global SAP Business at DXC Technologies, managing cross-functional global teams for major clients. His leadership approach emphasizes building cross-functional synergies across business units to accelerate growth and enhance profitability.

Yardi's career with Capgemini spans three decades, during which he held various leadership positions before becoming CEO in December 2018. His experience includes working across international markets in North and South America, Netherlands, Australia, and Asia. He has been particularly involved in digital transformation initiatives, big data platforms, and automation tools, working closely with Fortune 500 companies on their business transformation goals.
