BYD has achieved a significant milestone in the Indian market with the delivery of its 10,000th electric vehicle, marking a notable achievement for the company's operations in the country.

The milestone delivery was celebrated at an event in New Delhi, with company executives highlighting the achievement as evidence of growing consumer acceptance of electric vehicles in India. BYD India currently operates through a network of 44 dealership outlets across major Indian cities.

Market Position and Global Context

BYD, which positions itself as the world's leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has sold over 13 million NEVs globally. The company reports that its vehicles have contributed to saving more than 106.52 billion kilograms of carbon emissions as of July 2024, which it equates to the CO₂ absorption capacity of approximately 1.77 billion trees.

According to Kantar BrandZ rankings, BYD has maintained its position among the top 10 most valuable global automotive brands for three consecutive years, with a reported brand value of $14.4 billion and a 43.6% year-on-year increase.

Product Portfolio and Infrastructure

BYD's Indian operations offer four vehicle models: the SEALION 7, ATTO 3 eSUV, eMAX 7 eMPV, and SEAL. The company has established manufacturing facilities covering more than 140,000 square meters with an investment exceeding $200 million since its establishment in India in March 2007.

To support its growing customer base, BYD has developed partnerships for charging infrastructure, including a collaboration with Relux Electric for charging services. The company also provides after-sales service, roadside assistance, and extended warranty programs.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, characterized the milestone as reflecting "growing trust and enthusiasm for BYD's vision of cleaner, greener mobility." He noted that customer referrals have contributed to the company's growth in the Indian market.
