BYD India Opens Largest Showroom in Delhi in Partnership with PPS Motors
The Chinese EV maker's new 9,000 sq. ft. facility in Moti Nagar is its 48th dealership in India, as the brand targets growth in the country's electric vehicle market.
BYD India has inaugurated its largest showroom in the country at Moti Nagar, New Delhi, in partnership with PPS Motors Pvt. Ltd. The 9,000 sq. ft. facility, which can display up to seven vehicles at a time, is the company's 48th showroom in India and its sixth in the Delhi NCR region. The opening marks a continuation of BYD India's retail push into one of the country's most active automobile markets.
The new outlet brings BYD India's national dealership network to 48 showrooms spread across 40 cities, supported by 18 dealer partners. PPS Motors, the franchise partner for the Moti Nagar location, now manages six BYD sales outlets and four service workshops across three states, making it the brand's single largest sales and after-sales partner in India by reach.
The showroom is designed to offer customers what the company describes as an immersive retail experience, providing space to explore BYD's electric vehicle lineup alongside information on the brand's battery technology and design approach. In addition to vehicle display, the facility is intended to serve as a point of contact for customers considering a switch to electric mobility in the region.
Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, said the opening represented a meaningful step in strengthening the brand's retail footprint. He pointed to growing consumer awareness and rising adoption of electric vehicles in Delhi NCR as factors underpinning the decision to expand in the region. Rajiv Sanghvi, Managing Director of PPS Motors, described the showroom as part of a strategic expansion in northern India, and noted that the partnership reflected a shared focus on accelerating EV adoption in the market.
BYD India currently offers four electric passenger vehicles in the country: the SEALION 7, the SEAL premium sedan, the ATTO 3 eSUV, and the eMAX 7 electric MPV. The range is positioned at the premium end of the Indian EV market, targeting buyers seeking feature-rich alternatives to conventional vehicles.
The expansion comes at a time when electric vehicle sales across India have been on an upward trajectory. Delhi NCR has emerged as one of the leading EV markets in the country, supported in part by the Delhi government's electric vehicle policy, which offers purchase incentives and has encouraged infrastructure development including public charging networks. The region's concentration of high-income households and increasing awareness of air quality concerns have also contributed to higher EV uptake compared to many other parts of the country.
BYD India, a subsidiary of Chinese automaker BYD, was established in the country in March 2007, with offices in Chennai and New Delhi. The company operates two manufacturing facilities in Chennai covering over 140,000 sq. m., representing an investment of more than $200 million. While BYD initially entered India through its electric bus and commercial vehicle business, it relaunched its electric passenger vehicle operations in the country in 2022.
The parent company, BYD Co. Ltd., is the world's largest manufacturer of new energy vehicles by sales volume. In 2025, BYD sold over 4.6 million new energy vehicles globally. The company ranked 91st on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 and holds a brand value of $14.4 billion according to Kantar BrandZ, placing it among the top ten most valuable automotive brands worldwide. Globally, BYD has sold over 15 million NEVs to date, and claims the cumulative CO₂ reduction from its vehicles is equivalent to the absorption capacity of approximately 2.14 billion trees.
PPS Motors, the franchise partner behind the new showroom, is part of one of India's larger automobile retail conglomerates. The group brings over 75 years of experience in the sector and operates more than 720 dealership touchpoints across 19 states, employing over 18,000 people. PPS Motors represents 16 passenger vehicle brands in addition to light and heavy commercial vehicles and construction equipment.
As competition in India's EV segment intensifies — with both domestic manufacturers and international brands expanding their offerings — BYD's focus on retail network growth signals an effort to increase its visibility and accessibility in a market where physical presence and after-sales support remain important factors in purchase decisions.
