BMW Launches M2 CS in India at ₹1.66 Crore

BMW Group India has launched the M2 CS in the country, priced at ₹1,66,00,000 (ex-showroom). The car is imported as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit and will be available in limited numbers. It marks the first time an M2 CS has been sold in India.

The M2 CS produces 530 hp and 650 Nm of torque from a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology — figures that represent a 50 hp increase over the standard BMW M2. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 302 kmph. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.

On 11 April 2025, the M2 CS set a lap record at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in Germany, completing the 20.823-kilometre circuit in 7 minutes and 25.5 seconds — eight seconds faster than the previous benchmark for compact cars. The car was driven by professional driver Jörg Weidinger. The Nürburgring-Nordschleife, commonly referred to as the "Green Hell," is a widely used benchmark for assessing road car performance and is one of the most demanding racing circuits in the world.

The M2 CS is 30 kilograms lighter than the standard M2, achieved in part through the use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components. These include the roof, boot lid, mirror caps and rear diffuser, all finished in exposed carbon fibre. The chassis has been lowered by eight millimetres and tuned with revised springs, dampers and control systems. The car rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged alloy wheels fitted with track tyres as standard, with an M Compound braking system included as standard equipment.

The engine shares its architecture with the unit used in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO racing car and features a forged crankshaft, sleeve-free closed deck crankcase and a 3D-printed cylinder head core. The car also includes M Drive Professional, which offers a ten-stage traction control system, a drift analyser and a lap timer — features aimed at track use.

Inside, the car uses M Carbon bucket seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, a carbon centre console and Merino leather upholstery. The infotainment system runs BMW Operating System 8.5, paired with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional and a Head-Up Display. A Harman Kardon surround sound system is fitted as standard.

The M2 CS is available in four exterior colours: Brooklyn Grey, Portimao Blue, Black Sapphire and BMW Individual Velvet Blue. Standard safety equipment includes head and side airbags for front occupants, rear head airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System and Active M Differential.

The BMW M2, first introduced in 2016, is the entry point into BMW's M performance lineup and is positioned as the brand's compact rear-wheel-drive sports car. The CS designation — standing for Clubsport — has historically been applied to limited, track-focused variants with enhanced power and reduced weight, previously seen on models such as the M3 CS and M4 CS.

Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said the launch was aimed at customers seeking an uncompromising driving experience, adding that the CS badge represents a level of precision and exclusivity the company is now extending to the Indian market.
