BMW Motorrad has revealed the F 450 R, a new street-naked motorcycle based on the same platform as the F 450 GS. It effectively replaces the discontinued G 310 R as the entry-level model in BMW Motorrad’s Roadster line-up.
The F 450 R uses the same engine and core chassis hardware as the F 450 GS, but has been developed with a road-focused setup.
Same 420cc Parallel-Twin as F 450 GS
The F 450 R is powered by the same 420cc parallel-twin engine as the F 450 GS, producing 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm.
The tubular steel frame is also carried over, with the engine acting as a stressed member. Suspension consists of a 43mm KYB USD fork at the front and a KYB monoshock at the rear. Braking hardware comprises a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper and a 240mm rear disc.
The F 450 R has a standard 790mm seat height. BMW will also offer a 775mm low seat and 810mm high seat as accessories. At 175kg, the roadster is 3kg lighter than the F 450 GS.
Four Variants Available
BMW will offer the F 450 R in four variants:
- Base: Cosmic Black, with the standard equipment package
- Exclusive: Adds a bidirectional quickshifter and Sport suspension with adjustable rebound and compression damping
- M Sport: Adds a configurable Dynamic Pro riding mode and an exclusive TFT display layout with additional traction control, braking force, lean angle and lap timer information
- M Sport with Innovation Package: Adds BMW's Easy Ride Clutch system
All variants get heated grips and a 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and music controls as standard.
