Bharat Forge Secures CCI Approval for AAM India Acquisition
The Indian auto component giant moves one step closer to completing its proposed purchase of AAM India Manufacturing Corporation Private Limited as regulatory hurdles clear.
Bharat Forge Limited has received approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for its proposed acquisition of AAM India Manufacturing Corporation Private Limited, according to a regulatory filing made on April 23, 2025.
The approval comes six months after Bharat Forge first announced the execution of a Share Purchase Agreement on October 17, 2024, to acquire 100% shareholding in AAM India. The deal still remains subject to the fulfillment of other conditions precedent as specified in the agreement.
"The Competition Commission of India via its Letter dated April 22, 2024, has accorded its approval for the Proposed Acquisition," stated Tejaswini Chaudhari, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of Bharat Forge, in the filing. The company is awaiting the detailed order from the CCI.
Bharat Forge, headquartered in Pune, is one of India's leading forging companies and a key player in the automotive component manufacturing sector. The acquisition is expected to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and expand its footprint in the automotive supply chain.
AAM India Manufacturing Corporation Private Limited is involved in the production of automotive components, which aligns with Bharat Forge's core business activities. This strategic acquisition is part of Bharat Forge's ongoing efforts to consolidate its position in the competitive auto components market.
Industry analysts see this acquisition as part of the broader trend of consolidation in India's auto components sector, as manufacturers seek economies of scale and technological advantages in an increasingly competitive global market.
The company's shares are listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) under the scrip code 500493 and symbol BHARATFORG, respectively.
