BEML has unveiled the BH60-EV, a 60-ton electric dump truck developed and designed in India for mining and infrastructure applications. The vehicle was unveiled at BEML’s Mysuru Complex on September 30, 2026.

The BH60-EV uses a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), a rugged gearbox and a 1,000kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack. BEML says the truck has zero tailpipe emissions during operation and is designed for heavy-duty applications.

BEML has also developed a charging station solution intended to work with site electrical infrastructure and support fleet operations. The company says the electric dump truck is designed to deliver 40-60 per cent lower operating costs than conventional diesel-powered equipment, while potentially reducing CO₂ emissions by around 130 tonnes per vehicle annually, depending on operating conditions.

BEML BH60-EV Specifications And Payload

The BH60-EV has a payload capacity of 54,500kg with a rock body and a volumetric body capacity of 36.4 cubic metres. BEML says the electric powertrain provides high tractive effort and instant torque for operation on gradients.

The electric platform is designed to reduce dependence on conventional fuel while providing improved energy efficiency, a high power-to-weight ratio, acceleration and gradeability. The truck is also equipped with a Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS), emergency steering and sealed oil-cooled disc brakes.

BH60-EV Expands BEML Electric Dump Truck Portfolio

The BH60-EV follows BEML’s 35-ton electric dump truck, which was launched on April 10, 2026. The 60-ton model expands the company’s electric equipment portfolio into higher-capacity mining and infrastructure applications.

BEML CMD Shantanu Roy said the BH60-EV reflects the company’s move towards electric mobility for heavy industry, with the truck developed around the requirements of mining and infrastructure operations. He also highlighted its indigenous engineering, battery technology and focus on performance and safety.

The BH60-EV was developed at BEML’s Mysuru Complex. The company operates across Defence & Aerospace, Mining & Construction, and Rail & Metro, with manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields, Mysuru and Palakkad.
