Battery Smart Unveils First Impact Report Showcasing India's EV Progress

Battery Smart, India's largest battery-swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers, has released its first Impact Report titled "Redefining Mobility, One EV at a Time," marking a significant milestone in documenting the company's contribution to India's electric vehicle transition.

The report, validated by TÜV SÜD, presents comprehensive data on the company's operations since its founding in 2019 by IIT-Kanpur graduates Pulkit Khurana and Siddharth Sikka. The document focuses on three primary areas: decarbonisation efforts, economic empowerment, and technology-driven infrastructure development.

Battery Smart's network has facilitated over 95 million battery swaps across more than 1,600 stations, enabling drivers to travel over 3.2 billion emission-free kilometers. This activity has resulted in avoiding more than 223,000 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, while also reducing nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter pollution in urban areas.

The company's franchise-led model has created economic opportunities for over 90,000 drivers operating across 50 cities. According to the report, drivers have collectively earned more than ₹2,800 crore, with individual drivers saving an average of 130 minutes daily. This time efficiency translates to an average monthly income increase of over ₹3,000 per driver.

Technology Infrastructure

Battery Smart currently operates 270,000 IoT-enabled batteries as part of its technology-driven approach. The company has established a circular economy framework and implemented safety protocols designed to support long-term scalability.

"What began as an uncharted territory has evolved into a scalable, technology-led solution that makes electric mobility affordable, accessible, and inclusive," said Pulkit Khurana, Co-founder and CEO of Battery Smart. "This report marks an important milestone as we expand into new markets, deepen our impact, and continue contributing meaningfully to India's net-zero ambitions."

Future Plans

Battery Smart has announced plans to expand operations to 100 cities by 2026. The expansion will include deployment of additional IoT-enabled batteries and enhanced safety measures to support India's growing electric vehicle ecosystem.
