Battery Smart Completes 100 Million EV Battery Swaps, Launches Rs 10 Crore Driver Welfare Fund

Battery Smart has become India's first company to complete 100 million battery swaps across its electric two- and three-wheeler network, achieving the milestone nearly five years after its founding. The company announced a Rs 10 crore Driver Welfare Fund 2026 to provide insurance, financial protection, rewards, and skill development for approximately 1 lakh EV drivers.

The milestone comes as Battery Smart operates around 70% of India's battery swapping infrastructure. The company has enabled 3.5 billion clean kilometres, helping avoid 237,000 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, equivalent to saving 233 million litres of fuel. Driver earnings facilitated through the platform have exceeded Rs 2,800 crores.

Speaking on the milestone, Battery Smart co-founders Pulkit Khurana and Siddharth Sikka said, "Crossing 100 million swaps is a landmark for EV adoption in India, not just for us. The Driver Welfare Fund 2026 will provide insurance and financial protection, referral and reward programs, free swaps, skill development, and community inclusion initiatives for the driver community.

Battery Smart has built an ecosystem that includes 5,000+ women drivers and 250+ women partners. The company's technology stack uses IoT-enabled batteries and real-time monitoring for predictive maintenance, minimizing downtime for drivers.

The company plans to expand to 100 more cities by 2026 and deploy additional swap stations to scale daily swaps for commercial EV operators. The roadmap includes investments in next-generation safety systems and enhanced IoT intelligence.

Battery Smart was co-founded by IIT-Kanpur graduates Pulkit Khurana and Siddharth Sikka in 2019. The company has set up 1,600+ swap stations and works with over 1,00,000 drivers across 50+ cities.
