Bajaj Auto and Delhivery have entered into a commercial partnership to integrate electric three-wheelers into the logistics provider's regional fulfillment operations. The first phase of the agreement involves the deployment of 200 Bajaj RIKI eCarts within Delhivery's last-mile delivery infrastructure, extending the company's electric vehicle footprint into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The companies finalized the initial rollout during an official vehicle flag-off event at the Bajaj Auto facility in Akurdi, Pune. Under the broader scope of the agreement, a secondary deployment phase scheduled between 2026 and 2027 aims to expand the total volume to approximately 1,500 electric three-wheelers, utilizing both L3 and L5 category cargo models.
The integration combines Bajaj Auto's electric powertrain configuration, which features a two-speed automatic transmission and an urban operating range of over 100 kilometers per charge, with Delhivery's proprietary automated route optimization software. Companyn management said that the combination of structured routing and higher-capacity payloads is intended to lower per-kilometer operating costs while supporting daily drop-off volumes for contract delivery partners. From an operational standpoint, the transition away from internal combustion engines aligns with Delhivery's long-term environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets to reduce its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions across its commercial supply chain.
