Automobili Pininfarina has unveiled the new Battista Targamerica as the world’s first coach-built electric hypercar, commissioned by a renowned car collector and existing Battista owner. The one-off Battista Targamerica debuted at The Quail, a motorsport gathering at Monterey Car Week, and is also the brand’s first client-commissioned coach-built vehicle.

The Battista Targamerica was commissioned at the 2023 Monterey Car Week and is being delivered to the client exactly one year later at the 2024 event. The name ‘Targamerica’ references both its roofless body style and the country where the car will be based. Pininfarina says that this one-off electric hypercar is built to the exact personalised specifications of its owner.

Drawing inspiration from the one-off 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Spider (also designed by Pininfarina), the Targamerica stands out as the first and only Battista to feature an open-top Targa body style. This has necessitated a thorough re-engineering of the rear quarter to suit the roofless profile and the rear luggage opening.

The Targamerica comes finished in silver, contrasted by blue and black detailing along the base. An interesting detail is that the underside of the rear wing is hand-painted with Icona Blue pinstripes along its full width. It also gets bespoke ceramic-polished five-spoke alloy wheels with contrasting black aluminium centre caps, bespoke door plates, and a brushed and anodised jewellery pack.

The Targamerica has been handcrafted by the artisans at Cambiano in collaboration with Pininfarina SpA. “Battista Targamerica will forever stand as a one-of-its-kind and will never be repeated,” said Dave Amantea, chief design officer at Automobili Pininfarina.

On the inside, the Targamerica features a tan leather upholstery with contrast black leather on the steering wheel and dashboard. It also features bespoke headrests with the Pininfarina ‘F’ logo embossed on it, along with unique décor and design details specific to the owner.

One particular highlight is a cigar holder and humidor integrated into the cabin between the two seats. This aluminium and glass casing, capable of holding up to three cigars, is backlit and illuminated to match the corresponding colours of the five drive modes of the Battista. The car also comes with a bespoke luggage set finished in the same tan leather as the upholstery and embossed with the Targamerica silhouette.

Mechanically, the Targamerica remains unchanged from the regular hypercar. It features a quad-motor set-up – one on each wheel – that makes 1,900hp and 2,340Nm of torque. The motors are powered by a 120kWh battery pack that can charge at speeds of up to 180kW. Pininfarina claims the Targamerica Battista can sprint from 0-100kph in less than 2 seconds and has a top speed of more than 300kph.
