Autocracy Machinery Deploys Aquatic De-Weeder for Bengaluru Lake Rejuvenation

Autocracy Machinery has deployed its Aquatic De-Weeder to the Greater Bengaluru Authority for urban lake rejuvenation. The machine, designed and manufactured in India, removes aquatic weeds, floating waste, and biomass from lakes, canals, and reservoirs.

The Aquatic De-Weeder features a storage capacity of 13 cubic metres, expandable to 16 cubic metres, with payload handling capacity exceeding 5 tonnes. The machine operates with a 112 HP diesel engine and covers an operating width of 4 to 6 metres. Its low-draft design reaches 70 cm when empty, and a dual-pontoon catamaran hull provides stability in shallow waters. The equipment includes hydraulic paddle-wheel propulsion, GPS tracking, safety sensors, and operator control systems.

All critical components, including hull fabrication, hydraulic systems, control architecture, and safety mechanisms, have been engineered and manufactured domestically under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

The deployment received support from senior government officials including Chief Commissioner Shri Maheshwar Rao, Commissioner of Bangalore South City Corporation Shri K. N. Ramesh, and Chief Engineer Shri Basavaraj Kabade. The procurement process was initiated under the then BBMP Lake Division, led by then Chief Commissioner Shri Tushar Girinath, with support from Special Commissioner Smt. Preeti Gehlot, Chief Engineer Shri Vijaya Kumar Haridas, and Executive Engineer Smt. Nithya J.

Autocracy Machinery founders Vallakati Laxman and Santhoshi Sushma Buddhiraju attended the deployment and demonstration.

The Hon'ble Commissioner emphasised that adoption of advanced, purpose-built machinery are critical to enhancing operational efficiency, reducing project timelines, and effectively addressing the growing scale and complexity of urban water-body management. He noted that modern, reliable Made-in-India infrastructure equipment would play a vital role in strengthening the city's capabilities in flood mitigation, lake restoration, and sustainable desilting, ensuring long-term resilience and environmentally responsible management of Bengaluru's water bodies.

The deployment is expected to improve operational efficiency in aquatic weed removal, enhance water circulation, and contribute to the ecological health of Bengaluru's lakes.
