Come September and India Auto Inc gathers in full force at the annual conventions of apex industry bodies SIAM and ACMA which become a platform for discussion and debate on future challenges and solutions. It was no different this year.

At ACMA’s 58th Annual Session, held in New Delhi on September 5, captains of industry urged the component supplier community to prepare for a disruptive future, target higher exports and befriend new mobility paradigms like vehicle electrification.

For the Indian component industry, which has just come off a robust fiscal in FY2018 with 18% year-on-year growth, the IC engine remains a strong growth driver even as it gears up to participate in the drive towards EVs. We’ve got exclusive interview with both ACMA’s past president Nirmal K Minda as well as the new president, Ram Venkataramani.

A day later, SIAM held sway with the industry body mooting a 10-year regulatory and policy roadmap to ensure more sustainability and also moderate GST taxation to ensure sustainable growth for the Indian automobile sector.

The first-ever MOVE Global Mobility Summit India was hosted by the government’s premiere policy think-tank NITI Aayog on September 7-8, one which saw global auto leaders share their views on reimagining the Indian mobility scenario. Our detailed report reveals all.

In a future that’s increasingly looking connected, autonomous, shared and electric, find out how Tata Elxsi is making things easier for OEMs and component makers. We speak to Nitin Pai, senior vice-president and head (marketing).

But the changing paradigm of motoring doesn’t seem to have Royal Enfield worried. Rudratej Singh, president, speaks about the many narratives around the brand and its motorcycles, why it will remain relevant in the digital age, revival of the Himalayan adventure bike and great expectations from the upcoming 650cc twins.

Meanwhile, CV market leader Tata Motors, which is already making sizeable advances in the field, is fast upping the ante in the passenger bus market with a host of new products. We reveal the gameplan.

Every mid-month issue carries the sales statistics for the past month. Our comprehensive sales analysis for August 2018 – passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and two-wheelers – replete with vehicle segment-wise and company-wise statistics reveals who did well last month and those who didn’t.

The festive season has begun and the first vehicle launch has been that of the much-awaited Mahindra Marazzo MPV. The first of three all-new models to hit the market this fiscal, does the Marazzo have what it takes to win in the competitive marketplace? Find out.

That's not all. We've also got plenty of exciting news right at the front of the magazine starting with ABB’s bullishness on introducing its fast chargers to the Indian market. Don't miss reading this issue.
