Autocar Professional’s Aug 1,2024 issue is out!
This 64-page issue addresses the current hot topic in the industry, i.e. the Ola and Ather IPOs.
Homegrown start-ups Ola and Ather have played a significant role in kickstarting the electric two-wheeler revolution in the country. Within a remarkably short span of three to five years, Ola has emerged as the largest electric two-wheeler retailer in the country, while Ather has carved a niche for itself as a reliable and high-performing scooter brand.
However, so far, both companies have been backed by equity investment and have relied on government subsidies to establish themselves in India’s fledgling EV market. It is also important to note that both these start-ups are currently operating at a loss for every vehicle sold. Now, as the subsidies are rejigged and legacy players roll up their sleeves and prepare to enter the arena, both Ola and Ather are looking to the public investors to show them some love.
We’ve looked at both companies’ journey so far and the challenges they might encounter as they transform themselves into more accountable organisations.

This issue has a quarterly review of all the segments of the Indian automotive industry in partnership with CRISIL.

We also have a report on the performance of the Indian auto component industry for FY-24 and what one can expect in the current financial year.

There are reports on the progress of JSW MG Motor India and Vision 2.0.

We have interviews with Tata Motors MD Shailesh Chandra and their chief designer, Martin Ulharik, on the way ahead and how the upcoming SUV Coupe Curvv could disrupt the market.
