AUMOVIO India Manufactures 10 Mn Airbag Control Units at its Bengaluru Plant
The milestone coincides with the inauguration of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System line and the launch of an Integrated Safety Control Module at the same facility.
AUMOVIO India, the Indian unit of German automotive technology company AUMOVIO, has crossed 10 million Airbag Control Units (ACUs) manufactured at its Bengaluru facility, the company announced on Monday. The units are supplied to domestic automotive OEMs as well as export markets including Japan and South Korea. The occasion also saw the inauguration of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) production line and the launch of an Integrated Safety Control Module (ISCM).
ACU production at the Bengaluru facility began in 2016, with volumes scaling over the following decade.
Prashanth Doreswamy, President & CEO, AUMOVIO India, said, "This milestone reflects the steady scale-up of our manufacturing operations over the past decade. Our transition towards increased automation, along with a strong focus on localisation, has enabled us to improve efficiency and build a more resilient supply ecosystem, while continuing to deliver high-quality, safety-critical systems to our customers."
The facility has moved from largely manual assembly in its early years to a more automated production environment. A majority of components used in ACU manufacturing are now sourced domestically. The company said these changes have improved production efficiency, consistency, and throughput.
The addition of TPMS and ISCM lines expands the facility's product portfolio in vehicle safety systems. AUMOVIO said the Bengaluru plant is being developed into a hub for automotive safety systems serving APAC markets.
AUMOVIO was spun off from Continental's former Automotive group sector in September 2025. Headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, the company employs around 82,000 people at more than 80 locations worldwide and reported sales of €18.5 billion in fiscal year 2025.
