Audi of America, Verizon join forces to bring 5G to vehicle lineup

Audi of America and Verizon Business have announced a collaboration to introduce 5G connectivity to Audi's U.S. lineup, set to commence with select models for the 2024 model year. This agreement represents Verizon's first venture with a global premium automaker to integrate 5G-enabled automobiles, marking a significant leap forward in automotive technology.

Tami Erwin, CEO of Verizon Business, emphasised the transformative nature of this collaboration, highlighting Audi's visionary approach to integrating 5G technology into its vehicles. Filip Brabec, Senior VP of Product Planning at Audi of America, underscored Audi's commitment to pushing the boundaries of connectivity, building on its legacy of introducing in-vehicle Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity.
Audi of America continues to collaborate with stakeholders to develop direct C-V2X communication, prioritising safety for all road users. Verizon's partnerships with major cloud providers for mobile edge compute services, coupled with its expansive 5G network, reflect its dedication to advancing 5G-enhanced vehicle technology.
