Ather Energy Limited has entered into a partnership with ChargeMOD to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Kerala. Through this collaboration, EV owners using the LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) connector will gain access to 121 additional charging locations across the state.
Ather Energy, which launched India’s first two-wheeler fast-charging network in 2018, operates the Ather Grid, one of the country’s largest networks dedicated to electric two-wheelers. As of December 31, 2024, the company had deployed 291 Ather Grid fast chargers in Kerala. In addition to expanding its charging infrastructure, Ather has maintained a leading position in the state's EV market over the last two quarters, recording more than 10,000 sales, according to data from Vahaan.
ChargeMOD, a charge point operator with a presence across India, Nepal, and Abu Dhabi, manages over 3,500 EV charging stations. The partnership with Ather Energy is expected to enhance charging accessibility for EV users, contributing to the growth of electric mobility in Kerala.
According to Ather Energy’s Chief Business Officer, Ravneet Singh Phokela, the company has prioritized the expansion of its charging network and views collaborations with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) as a way to improve EV infrastructure accessibility. ChargeMOD’s founder, Visakh Raj, noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening India’s EV charging ecosystem and aligns with the country’s sustainability goals for 2030.
Ather Energy has previously collaborated with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Sangeetha Mobiles Private Limited, and Café Coffee Day to install fast chargers across multiple locations. During the financial year 2025 (April-December), the company added 799 fast chargers, bringing its total network to 2,583 fast chargers in India as of December 31, 2024. Ather’s charging infrastructure supports interoperability through the LECCS standard, which was formalized as an Indian standard in August 2023, further promoting accessibility for EV users nationwide.
