Ather Energy launches ‘Eight70 Warranty’ for electric scooter batteries
The Eight70 Warranty offers coverage for up to eight years or 80,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.
Electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ather Energy introduced the ‘Eight70 Warranty’ for its Ather 450 series and Rizta scooters. The warranty, developed in partnership with Reliance General Insurance, provides long-term battery health assurance, addressing key concerns of EV buyers.
The Eight70 Warranty offers coverage for up to eight years or 80,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. It guarantees a minimum of 70% battery health throughout the warranty period, providing full coverage against manufacturing defects and failures. Notably, the warranty includes no upper limit on claim amounts and ensures that claims cannot be rejected due to deep battery discharge caused by leaving the scooter uncharged or idle for extended periods.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy said, battery durability is a crucial factor for EV buyers. In order to address customers’ apprehensions regarding the longevity and replacement costs of the batteries of their electric scooters, the new Eight70 Warranty, has been introduced which provides 70% battery health assurance up to 8 years.
“We believe that this warranty will eliminate any worries and concerns EV buyers may have regarding the long-term health of their scooter batteries,” he said.
Reliance General Insurance CEO Rakesh Jain said, “Our partnership with Ather reflects our shared vision of providing long-term protection for EV owners. We believe this initiative will play a crucial role in building trust in the EV ecosystem and encouraging more people to embrace sustainable mobility.”
The Eight70 Warranty, an optional 3-year add-on to the existing 5-year warranty under the pro-pack, is available for both lines. Priced at Rs 4,999 (inclusive of GST), it can be availed by customers opting for the pro-pack, further enhancing peace of mind for Ather’s EV owners.
Ather’s product line includes the 450 series and Rizta, catering to distinct customer segments. The 450 series, featuring models like the 450X, 450S, and 450 Apex, targets performance enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the Rizta, introduced earlier this year, caters to family-oriented users.
