Ashok Leyland Limited has announced that it has received an order from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for the supply of 543 Bharat Stage VI (BSVI) diesel chassis and fully built buses. The total value of the order is approximately ₹183.80 crore.

The order is entirely domestic and is scheduled to be executed between June 2025 and December 2025. The order was granted following a standard tender process and involves customary commercial terms. No adverse terms or conditions are associated with the contract.

Ashok Leyland confirmed that there is no interest held by the promoter group or related entities in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. The transaction does not qualify as a related party transaction.

The announcement was made to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited.

Ashok Leyland, a flagship of the Hinduja Group, is one of India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Chennai, it produces trucks, buses, light vehicles, and defense systems. The company serves both domestic and international markets across over 50 countries. Known for innovation in transportation, Ashok Leyland has played a key role in public mobility and logistics in India. It operates manufacturing facilities across multiple locations and emphasizes technology-driven solutions, including alternative fuels and electric mobility, aligning with India’s sustainability goals.

BSVI (Bharat Stage VI) is India’s emission standard equivalent to Euro VI. It mandates lower emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and hydrocarbons, making vehicles more environmentally compliant. Introduced in April 2020, BSVI vehicles require advanced engine technology and cleaner fuels to meet stringent norms.
