Ashok Leyland Reports 28% Domestic Sales Growth in February 2026, Trucks Lead the Charge

Ashok Leyland recorded total vehicle wholesales of 22,157 units in February 2026 — domestic and exports combined — a 24% increase over the 17,903 units sold in February 2025. Domestic sales alone reached 20,314 units, up 28% from 15,879 units in the same month last year, according to a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange and BSE on March 2, 2026.

The Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) truck segment was the primary driver of the month's performance. Domestic M&HCV truck sales rose 39% to 11,599 units from 8,368 units in February 2025 — the steepest year-on-year gain among all segments for the month. Including exports, truck volumes reached 11,907 units, up 33%.

The bus segment, by contrast, posted a marginal decline. Domestic M&HCV bus sales fell 4% to 1,665 units from 1,742 units a year earlier. Including exports, bus volumes recovered to show an 11% rise, reaching 2,848 units from 2,564 units, suggesting that international demand partially offset the softness in the domestic market. This follows a more pronounced 22% decline in total bus sales recorded in January 2026, indicating that the segment has faced consecutive months of pressure domestically.

In the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment — vehicles used for urban deliveries and last-mile distribution — domestic sales grew 22% to 7,050 units. Combined with exports, total LCV volumes stood at 7,402 units, up 15% year-on-year.

February's total of 22,157 units is modestly higher than January 2026's 21,920 units, and above December 2025's 21,533 units, indicating a gradual sequential improvement over the past three months. November 2025 had recorded a lower base of 18,272 units, when total sales grew 29% year-on-year.

On a cumulative basis for the financial year to date, Ashok Leyland's domestic sales reached 1,78,612 units through February 2026, up 14% from 1,57,332 units in the same period last year. Total sales including exports stood at 1,95,056 units, a 14% increase from 1,71,037 units.

The cumulative M&HCV truck segment — the company's largest revenue contributor — has grown 15% domestically to 92,634 units, while the bus segment has expanded 6% to 19,161 units. The LCV segment has risen 14% to 66,817 units domestically.

Ashok Leyland is a flagship company of the Hinduja Group and one of India's largest manufacturers of commercial vehicles, producing trucks, buses, and light commercial vehicles for domestic and international markets. The company also manufactures engines for industrial and marine applications.
