Ashok Leyland has partnered with Rosmerta Recycling to establish an organised scrappage ecosystem for end-of-life commercial vehicles, with the collaboration aimed at providing customers access to authorised vehicle recycling facilities across the country.

Under the partnership, Ashok Leyland will leverage its nationwide dealer network to connect customers with Rosmerta Recycling's Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs). The companies said the arrangement will provide an end-to-end scrappage process, including assistance with vehicle deregistration and statutory documentation.

The initiative aligns with the Government of India's Voluntary Vehicle Modernisation Program, which encourages the replacement of older vehicles with newer, lower-emission models. It also complements the recently announced Naya Safar Scheme, which targets reduced transport-related emissions in the Delhi-NCR region.

Rosmerta Recycling operates authorised vehicle scrapping facilities across India that are designed to dismantle end-of-life vehicles in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements while recovering recyclable materials. The partnership is expected to support the formalisation of commercial vehicle scrappage as replacement policies gather pace.

Ashok Leyland said customers opting to scrap their old commercial vehicles through the programme will be eligible for benefits including competitive scrap value, OEM-linked discounts on new vehicle purchases, and waivers on road tax and registration fees wherever applicable under government policies. The companies also said the process will include compliant deregistration support.

"Our partnership with Rosmerta Recycling comes at a pivotal time, as the Government's recently approved commercial vehicle replacement initiatives are expected to accelerate organised vehicle scrappage across India," said Kartick Nagpal, President, Rosmerta Group. "The mandatory scrappage of BS-III and older commercial vehicles through authorised RVSFs—covering an estimated 2.07 lakh vehicles in Delhi-NCR—is a significant step towards cleaner mobility and a stronger circular economy."
