Ashok Leyland Moves to Expand Service Network Across Western India

Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle arm of the Hinduja Group, has announced a significant expansion of its service and dealer network across Western India, with a focus on Maharashtra. The company, which currently operates 29 dealer partners, 130 service workshops, and more than 350 trained technicians in the region, plans to add 30 new touchpoints to its existing 150 within the next year.

The expansion is aimed at improving service accessibility for customers in the region. At present, Ashok Leyland's service network ensures coverage every 35 kilometres across Western India. The company intends to reduce that interval to one touchpoint every 25 kilometres, a move designed to better serve operators of its light commercial vehicle (LCV) range.

Viplav Shah, Head of LCV Business at Ashok Leyland, described the move as a strategic priority for the company. "The expansion of the LCV networking in Maharashtra and the entire Western region will be a game changer for us," Shah said. "We remain committed to strengthening our presence in the Western region, which is a key market for us."

The announcement comes as demand for light commercial vehicles continues to grow in India, driven by infrastructure development and the expansion of last-mile logistics. Western India, and Maharashtra in particular, has been identified by the company as a high-priority market given its economic activity and transportation needs.

Ashok Leyland's LCV portfolio includes vehicles positioned on attributes such as payload capacity, fuel efficiency, and load area dimensions. The company said the network expansion complements its product offerings by ensuring that after-sales support keeps pace with sales growth.
