"August has been a landmark month for Switch Mobility.
With the flag-off of our electric buses in Chennai, Mauritius, Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh, SWITCH is demonstrating what we stand for — sustainable innovation, global ambition, and Indian excellence," Mani, who continues as chief operating officer at parent company Ashok Leyland, remarked in a social media post.
Mani's appointment follows the departure of predecessor S. Mahesh Babu, who stepped down effective August 31 to pursue external opportunities, according to a company statement.
Switch India achieved EBITDA breakeven in FY25 and is now positioned to work towards profitability.
Switch India currently offers electric light commercial vehicles, including the IeV3 (1.25-tonne) and IeV4 (1.75-tonne), available through selected Ashok Leyland dealers. In the electric bus segment, the company provides 12-metre standard and low-floor variants, with a driving range of up to 200 kilometres per charge. With a current order book exceeding 1,500 buses, Switch aims to double its revenue in FY26.
Switch Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group, focuses on zero-emission commercial vehicles and was formed through the collaboration between Ashok Leyland and UK-based Optare. The company’s portfolio includes the EiV series of electric buses—such as the double-decker EiV22—and the IeV range of light commercial vehicles.
Switch vehicles have collectively covered over 150 million kilometres, with more than 1,000 electric buses and 1,000 electric LCVs currently in operation. Its in-house telematics platform, SWITCH iON, enables real-time monitoring and data-driven performance management. The company supports its fleet with over 50 dealerships and 100 service points across India.
