EKA Mobility has received the Automotive Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Certificate for its electric bus platform from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the designated testing agency under the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The certification confirms that EKA's electric bus platform meets the eligibility requirements for the government's PLI scheme supporting advanced automotive technology vehicles.

The certification represents how the company is developing indigenized electric vehicle platforms that align with national sustainability goals. ARAI's recognition validates EKA's compliance with the technical standards and localization requirements mandated under the scheme.

Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder & Chairman of EKA Mobility, said: "Securing the Automotive PLI Certificate for the EKA bus platform reflects the evolving readiness of India's EV manufacturing ecosystem to deliver globally benchmarked, locally engineered mobility solutions. The certification affirms the significance of a vertically integrated approach where product development, supply chain localization, and advanced technology converge to create commercially viable electric vehicles. As India accelerates its transition to sustainable transport, such recognitions help catalyze deeper industry-government collaboration and reinforce the potential of indigenous innovation to lead the shift."

The certified platform features a modular architecture that allows for adaptation to different bus lengths and operational requirements. Built with a monocoque chassis and lightweight construction, the platform is designed to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) for operators, making electric public transportation more economically viable.

EKA Mobility's approach aligns with the government's "Make in India" initiative through its focus on localized manufacturing and technology development. The company has emphasized value addition within the domestic supply chain while incorporating advanced technological features in its vehicle platform.

EKA Mobility operates with equity partnerships from Mitsui Co., Ltd. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands). The company focuses on creating sustainable commercial vehicle solutions with modular designs and efficient manufacturing processes aimed at mass adoption of electric mobility.

The PLI scheme, introduced by the Indian government, provides incentives to companies meeting specific criteria for manufacturing advanced automotive technology products domestically, supporting the country's transition to cleaner transportation options.
