Apollo Tyres on May 6, 2026, introduced the Apterra HT5, a premium highway terrain tyre for core SUVs, designed and developed at the company's Global R&D Centre in Chennai and manufactured at its Andhra Pradesh and Chennai facilities.
The tyre is built to serve two distinct usage patterns that define India's SUV market — owners of rugged SUVs who prioritise durability, toughness and mileage, and drivers of new-generation SUVs who demand performance, grip and road presence. The Apterra HT5 is positioned as a single solution for both profiles.
Rajesh Dahiya, Vice President, Commercial (India, SAARC and South-east Asia), Apollo Tyres Ltd, said: "Apterra HT5 represents our deep understanding of how India's SUV market is evolving. Today's SUV owners expect a product that can keep up with demanding usage while also delivering on performance and comfort. With Apterra HT5, we have engineered a tyre that brings together durability, mileage, grip and refinement in one offering, ensuring our customers no longer must choose between toughness and driving experience."
The tyre's durability comes from Armour Technology and a Hybrid Fill Compound, which the company says delivers cut resistance, improved mileage and extended tread life. A Dynamic Pattern design adapts to varying road conditions for traction and braking stability at higher speeds. Precision-engineered tread sipes balance block stiffness to absorb road harshness for ride comfort.
Apollo Tyres is an international tyre manufacturer with production units in India, the Netherlands and Hungary. Its products are sold in over 100 countries under the Apollo and Vredestein brands.
