JSW Greentech announced its first commercial fleet order consisting of 100 Ampstar 4x2 55T electric tractor-trucks for JSW Cement's heavy-duty industrial haulage operations.
In collaboration with logistics partner Paradeep Parivahan and subsidiary JSW Eco-Mobility as the Battery-as-a-Service provider, the fleet will transport clinker and slag along a 330-kilometer corridor between Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, and Vijayanagar, Karnataka.
To support the monthly movement of an estimated 1.25 lakh tonnes of material, JSW Eco-Mobility will establish four dedicated battery-swapping stations along the route. The electric trucks deliver a peak power output of 430 kW and peak torque of 2,600 Nm.
The fleet will be manufactured at JSW Greentech's greenfield facility, currently under development across 90 acres at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, which has an annual planned capacity of 15,000 electric buses and trucks.
"The 55T electric tractor truck, first showcased at our Ampstar brand launch, represents one of the most demanding vehicle architectures in commercial transportation. In just over a month, we have reached a significant milestone, with the first 100 trucks being deployed for JSW Cement's industrial freight movement, supported by JSW Eco-Mobility as Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) partner," said Sumit Mittal, Chief Executive Officer of JSW Greentech Limited.
The deployment follows central regulatory approval, with the Ampstar 4x2 and 6x4 tractor-trucks receiving Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) certification from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
