Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ampere has announced major technology upgrades to its flagship Nexus electric scooter, introducing what the company calls "Map Mirroring Technology" along with an enhanced connectivity platform called Nex.IO.

The upgraded Nexus features a 7-inch TFT display that provides full-screen navigation with zoom functionality, estimated time of arrival, and distance-to-next-turn information. The system also integrates dashboard monitoring, music control, call connectivity, and safety alerts.
"With the introduction of Nex.IO, Nexus now comes with various tech innovations, elevating the riding experience by bringing next-gen digital features into the hands of our customers," said Ram Rajappa, Chief Operating Officer of Greaves Electric Mobility, Ampere's parent company.
The Nexus, which Ampere describes as India's Electric Scooter of the Year and holder of five national records, uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery chemistry. The technology upgrades are designed to enhance the connected riding experience while maintaining the vehicle's existing performance characteristics.
Key features of the upgraded system include call notifications and controls that allow riders to stay connected without distraction, integrated music connectivity with touchscreen and handlebar controls, and the Ampere Care Connectivity system that provides safety alerts and service reminders.
The scooter can be paired with the Ampere Connect mobile application, enabling riders to track battery health and other vehicle parameters. The upgraded Nexus is now available across the company's dealership network.
Vikas Singh, Managing Director of Greaves Electric Mobility, stated that the company aims to "change the way people move by manufacturing scooters that are safe, reliable and built to last."
The announcement coincides with recent recognition for the Nexus, which became the first electric scooter to reach Shipki La Pass at 13,200 feet altitude, coming within 200 meters of the Line of Control. The achievement was certified by the India Book of Records.
Greaves Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton Limited, has been designing and manufacturing electric vehicles for over 16 years and operates in the electric two-wheeler segment. The company has filed for an initial public offering, with a draft red herring prospectus submitted to market regulators in December 2024.
The technology upgrades represent Ampere's effort to differentiate its offerings in India's competitive electric two-wheeler market through enhanced connectivity and user experience features. The company positions itself as focused on real-world performance, safety, and design in the sustainable mobility sector.
Greaves Cotton Limited, the parent company, is a 165-year-old engineering company that has transitioned from diesel engines to become what it describes as a fuel-agnostic mobility solutions provider, operating through five business units including electric mobility, retail, finance, and technology divisions.
