Allison Transmission has been selected to provide its 3040 MX cross-drive transmission for all three government-funded original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) competing in India's Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) prototype program, the company announced on April 23, 2025. The program aims to replace the Indian Army's aging BMP-II Infantry Fighting Vehicles with advanced, domestically manufactured combat vehicles.
The company has worked with each OEM to integrate and optimize the 3040 MX for their prototype vehicles. With India planning to procure approximately 1,750 FICVs, the potential revenue opportunity for Allison could represent several hundred million dollars over the next two decades.

Allison's selection aligns with India's "Make in India" initiative. The company has maintained a manufacturing facility in Chennai for 15 years and announced plans in 2024 to double its manufacturing footprint in the country.
The 3040 MX transmission builds on the proven quality of the X300 transmission, which has been used in European CV90 and Warrior IFV drivetrain solutions for over 30 years. The newer model features advanced electronic system controls for improved shifting, torque management, and obsolescence management. The transmission is also used in the U.S. Army's newest tank, the M10 Booker.
