The Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) concluded its sixth annual Forum on Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation (FEED 2026) on February 4, with discussions centred on implementing energy efficiency measures across India's industrial and infrastructure sectors.
The two-day conference brought together government representatives, private sector participants, and civil society organisations. More than 370 stakeholders and 80 experts from over 400 organisations attended the event, which examined energy efficiency applications in sectors including cold chains, transport, built environment, MSMEs, and hard-to-abate industries.
Dr Satish Kumar, President and Executive Director of AEEE, stated that the organisation aims to connect national policy with practical implementation. He noted that recent provisions in the Union Budget 2026 support systemic efficiency improvements and energy productivity measures.
The forum included the release of two research publications. The first, titled "Technologies for Net-Zero Airports: India's Blueprint for Sustainable Aviation Infrastructure," presents a technical roadmap for reducing carbon emissions in India's aviation sector through measures including sustainable aviation fuel, automated baggage handling, and radiant cooling systems.
The second study, conducted with Kazam, examines residential electric vehicle charging infrastructure in India. The research indicates that home charging accounts for 70-80% of daily EV energy requirements and offers cost advantages compared to public charging stations. The study identifies regulatory and infrastructure challenges in housing societies and proposes policy enhancements to support residential charging infrastructure.
AEEE operates as a policy support and implementation organisation focused on energy efficiency markets. The organisation works with government bodies, industry groups, and civil society to advance energy-efficient products and services in support of India's energy security and climate objectives.
The conference proceedings emphasised energy efficiency as a component of India's broader sustainable development framework, with discussions addressing the implementation of efficiency measures across multiple economic sectors.
