Assurance Intl Limited has relaunched ACDelco, the automotive aftermarket brand owned by General Motors, in the Indian market. The relaunch follows an official licensing and strategic partnership agreement between the two companies, under which Assurance Intl will serve as ACDelco's licensed manufacturer and distributor in India. The announcement was made at a formal launch event in New Delhi on March 9.

Under the terms of the arrangement, Assurance Intl will oversee manufacturing, marketing, and nationwide distribution of select ACDelco products. The initial product range covers two categories: automotive batteries and engine lubricants, both developed for passenger and commercial vehicles operating under Indian road and climate conditions. The company said it plans to expand the product lineup over time as the partnership matures.

Manufacturing will take place at Assurance Intl's facilities in Hisar, Haryana. The company operates a dedicated battery manufacturing plant at the location, which will produce automotive batteries under the ACDelco label for the domestic market. Lubricant production will be handled at a separate blending and packaging unit at the same site, designed to manufacture a range of engine oils and automotive fluids. The company said localized production is intended to keep pricing competitive while meeting the quality benchmarks associated with the ACDelco name globally.

Distribution is planned through a multi-tier network spanning distributors, retailers, and service workshops across major automotive markets in India. The structure is designed to reach both urban centres and smaller markets where demand for aftermarket automotive products has grown in line with rising vehicle ownership.

Rakesh Sharma, Managing Director of Assurance Intl Limited, said the arrangement brings together complementary strengths. "This partnership is a natural synergy between ACDelco's global legacy in automotive aftermarket solutions and Assurance Intl's manufacturing expertise, quality experience and distribution capabilities in the Indian automotive sector," he said at the launch event.

Mahesh Ravindran, Country Lead for Commercial Operations at Chevrolet Sales India, said the deal fits within General Motors' wider aftermarket strategy. "The relaunch of ACDelco automotive batteries and lubricants products in India through an official licensing arrangement is aligned with our global aftermarket brand strategy," he said, adding that Assurance Intl's operational capabilities and understanding of local market requirements provide a platform for the brand's reentry into the country.

Both companies indicated that the current product rollout is a starting point. They said they intend to explore additional categories over time, including eco-friendly lubricants and advanced battery technologies, to align with shifts in vehicle technology and growing emphasis on sustainability across the automotive sector.

ACDelco has historically been one of the more recognized names in the global automotive aftermarket, with a portfolio spanning parts, fluids, filters, and accessories sold across multiple continents. General Motors has used licensing arrangements in various markets to extend the brand's reach without maintaining direct manufacturing operations in each region. India represents a significant opportunity in this context: the country is among the world's largest automotive markets by volume, with a growing base of registered vehicles and an expanding network of independent service workshops that rely on aftermarket suppliers.

Assurance Intl Limited operates across roughly 18 countries, primarily in South and Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and the Indian subcontinent. Its existing portfolio covers lubricants, batteries, filters, accessories, and spare parts. The company's regional footprint and established distribution infrastructure were cited by both parties as factors in the decision to structure the India relaunch through a licensing partnership rather than a direct market entry.
