71 College Teams to Compete at SUPRA SAEINDIA Formula Student 2026

The 13th edition of SUPRA SAEINDIA Formula Student will take place from September 2-5, 2026, at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, bringing together 71 engineering college teams from across India.

The competition challenges students to design, build, and validate formula-style racing vehicles according to international standards while developing skills in project management, teamwork, and business strategy. Each participating team comprises approximately 30 engineering students, with representation from 15 states nationwide.

SUPRA SAEINDIA follows a year-long structured program that begins with registrations and technical workshops led by industry experts, followed by mentor allocation and technical report submissions before culminating in the main event. The competition emphasizes sustained learning through continuous engagement between students and industry professionals.

A key feature of the program is its mentorship structure, with each team assigned a dedicated industry mentor who provides guidance on technical, design, and strategic matters. The Organising Committee consists of around 30 senior leaders from various industries, ensuring technical governance and industry relevance.

The main event will include static evaluations covering design, cost, and business presentation, alongside dynamic tests such as acceleration, skid pad, autocross, and endurance challenges. Total prizes and awards exceed ₹11 lakhs, recognizing excellence in technical innovation, management, and overall performance.

Maruti Suzuki serves as the title sponsor for the event, with support from over 25 organizations from the automotive, engineering, and technology sectors. Envision Energy India Private Limited and ANSYS by Synopsys have confirmed their commercial support for the 2026 edition.

Since its establishment, SUPRA SAEINDIA Formula Student has provided hands-on learning experiences to over 25,000 engineers across India. The competition is modeled on the Formula SAE framework used internationally in Europe and the United States and is organized by SAEINDIA, an affiliate of SAE International.
