Skoda has introduced a new ‘Sportline’ trim for the fourth-gen Superb with some cosmetic updates and new features. The Sportline trim sits atop the range and, as the name suggests, is marketed as a sportier version of the sedan.

All the exterior chrome elements, including the radiator grille frame, window frames and the Skoda badging at the back, are blacked out. The mirror caps are also finished in gloss black. The Superb Sportline is available with 18-inch (standard) or 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which look strikingly similar to the ones seen on the pre-facelift Hyundai Alcazar sold in India. It also gets Sportline badging on the front fenders and LED Matrix headlights.

The cabin has sportier seats with integrated headrests and manually adjustable thigh support. Skoda is offering an optional Suite Sport Design Selection with AGR-certified leather seats with ventilation, heating and massage functions. Other changes include a black headliner, a faux-carbon fibre effect on the dashboard, steel covers for the pedals and a new three-spoke steering wheel with Skoda lettering instead of the logo seen on the other variants.

Besides the changed looks, the Superb Sportline gets a retuned chassis with a 15mm drop in ride height and progressive steering as a standard feature. Dynamic Chassis Control is also available as an optional extra.

Skoda is offering the Sportline with all powertrain options available with the Superb, including the 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, the 150hp, 2.0-litre diesel, the 193hp, 2.0-litre diesel and the 265hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol. The Superb Sportline is available in both sedan and estate formats.

In India, Skoda continues to retail the previous-gen Superb, which is now being brought as a CBU. The Superb is priced at Rs 54 lakh, making it almost Rs 8 lakh more expensive than the Toyota Camry, its only direct rival in the country.
