Škoda Expands Octavia Range with New All-Wheel Drive Option
Enhanced 2.0 TSI engine delivers increased power and efficiency in updated hatchback and estate models, with deliveries commencing soon across multiple design configurations.
Škoda Auto has announced the launch of an all-wheel drive version of its updated Octavia model, available in both hatchback and estate configurations. The Czech automaker is now accepting orders, with the first customer deliveries expected to begin within weeks.
The new Octavia 4×4 features a 2.0 TSI petrol engine producing 150 kW (204 hp), representing a power increase of 10 kW (14 hp) compared to the previous generation. This engine comes exclusively paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and generates a maximum torque of 320 Nm.
According to company specifications, the Octavia 4×4 hatchback can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, while the estate variant achieves the same sprint in 6.7 seconds. Both models have a top speed of 228 km/h.
The vehicle's all-wheel drive system employs an electrohydraulically controlled inter-axle multi-plate clutch that continuously adjusts power distribution based on driving conditions. In optimal scenarios, up to 100% of torque can be redirected to the rear axle, while under normal conditions, power is distributed between the front and rear axles at a maximum ratio of 50:50.
Engineers have equipped the Octavia 4×4 with a multi-link rear axle designed to provide precise wheel control, enhancing both handling characteristics and ride comfort. The all-wheel drive system also increases the vehicle's towing capacity to 1,900 kg with a braked trailer.
The new model incorporates efficiency measures, including valve timing adjustments in low-load conditions that reduce the compression ratio and fuel consumption.
Customers can choose from several interior design options including Essence, Selection Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite, and Sportline Design Selections.
Industry analysts expect the enhanced all-wheel drive capability to strengthen the Octavia's position in markets where seasonal weather conditions or challenging terrain make such features particularly desirable.
