Yamaha FZ 25 bags India Design Mark award 2018

The midsize motorcycle has won the prestigious award for its engineering and design.

The Yamaha FZ 25 has won the India Design Mark (I Mark) award instituted by the Indian Design Council. The Yamaha FZ 25 gets the award for its engineering and design.

The India Design Mark symbolises product excellence in form, function, quality, safety, sustainability and innovation and communicates that the product is usable, durable, aesthetically appealing and socially responsible. India Design Mark is granted to an applicant after following a diligent evaluation process aimed at identifying good design that exceeds the prescribed criteria of evaluation.

In 2008, Yamaha introduced the FZ series in India to a strong market response. By 2017, the bike has sold over a million units. It was then that the company rolled out the new FZ 25 was launched to strengthen the FZ brand. With a newly designed air-cooled, 249cc, high torque, fuel-injected engine on a lightweight frame, the FZ 25 was pitched as a ‘powerful, mid-class, street fighter.’ At 148kg, the FZ 25 is a lightweight machine that enables speedy motoring with robust torque delivery and a powerful exhaust note. Yamaha India claims the FZ 25 delivers 39.3 kilometres per litre fuel efficiency.

Commenting on the Indian Design Mark award, Roy Kurian, senior vice-president, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales, said, "Yamaha is excited to be honoured by industry’s one of the most coveted recognitions, ‘India Design Mark’. Since 2012, Yamaha products that have bagged the Indian Design Mark Award include the YZF-R15 (2012), Cygnus Ray (2013), Cygnus Ray Z (2014), Cygnus Alpha and FZ (2015), Yamaha Fascino & Saluto 125 (2016), Cygnus Ray ZR and YZF R3 (2017). The FZ 25 is the latest winner.
